Sewa International to Provide Relief to Hurricane Ike Effected

As Hurricane Ike passed through four southern states, it left the devastating destruction. The storm as large as the state of Texas left its affect from Louisiana to Texas. The hurricane killed 34 in US and several thousands were evacuated and taking shelter.

Sewa International USA extends its sympathy to victims of Hurricane Ike and condolences to those whose family member lost life. Sewa International USA Houston chapter is working with various organizations to provide relief to people living in shelters in Houston. And hope to actively support relief activity. Particularly we are concerned about the International students dislocated due to loss of power and access to food.

Sewa International USA is providing hot meal to students and others in need and participating in further relief activities with local and federal emergency relief efforts. Sewa International along with other organizations already started serving hot meal. Volunteers are also providing assistance in filling FEMA and other forms for government assistance. Sewa International USA will continue to mobilize volunteers to participate relief efforts.

Sewa International USA had actively participated in relief activities during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. During Hurricane Katrina, Sewa International volunteers provided daily toiletry kit while teenage volunteers worked to make the kit. Sewa International volunteers also provided food at FEMA centers and neighborhood churches to effected people.
