       Public Relations

  • Write press releases
  • Write various event/program articles
  • MUST attend computer/ESL/art classes and other sewa programs and write reports
  • Maintain/expand media database
  • Make contacts with different Media avenues
  • Work with the team that will make radio ad, print media ad and documentary
  • Participate in outreach and presentation activitie

       Children’s Activities

  • Conduct weekly art classes (for kids 14 years and below) 
  • Weekly homework help for refugee kids
  • Maintain supplies for both events
  • Research art projects/find field trip opportunities
  • Work with sewa volunteers to develop children’s therapy program

·       Sewa Youth Mentorship Program

  • Organize one event/week (Soccer, movie nite, etc.) for refugee kids (mostly high school kids)
  • Organize college nights 
  • Regular SAT prep classes
  • Find and manage program volunteers
  • Maintaining Facebook page for SYMP

·       Fundraising and grant writing

  • Maintain foundation/potential donors list
  • Track grant proposal applications
  • Contact potential foundations
  • Assist with Sewa fundraisers
  • Attend classes/events and work with the other teams to  understand programs
  • Assist sewa volunteers with grant application process

·       Extended Learning

  • Teach initial ESL classes
  • Recruit at least 2 ESL teachers
  • Manage all classes/teachers
  • Manage computer classes/arrange for donations

·       Public Health

  • Intern must have health care experience
  • Conduct weekly orientation for new  refugees
  • Collect health record for new refugees
  • Recruit 1-2 volunteers to help teach/fill in health information forms
  • Work with all apartment coordinators (and refugee ambassadors) to keep eye on everyone’s health.
