Alpana Loyalka |
My name is Alpana Loyalka, and I am originally from Kanpur, India. I have been living in Houston for 19 years. Before moving to the US, I had worked as a primary and secondary school teacher, while I was earning my Masters in Economics from Kanpur University. I immigrated to the US in 1997 after my marriage, and became a full-time mom to my two children, Niyati and Shreyus while my husband was in training. In 2008, I had an opportunity to help my husband start and manage a very successful cardiology medical practice, and also volunteered in various charitable and community organizations. I love listening to music, dancing, and helping out my community. I am also a trained Kathak dancer. In order to serve my community, I have joined organizations that I believe in line with my values and interests. I am a member of Sewa International’s ASPIRE advisory board in Houston. I am also a board member of the Indo American Association of Houston, a leading Indian cultural arts organization that brings music and performing arts to Houston. In my free time, I like to read, paint, sing, and spend time with my family and friends.. |
