Interfaith Community Services Event - November 2023 Namaste Everyone, wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful Sewa San Diego Lead / Serve event at Interfaith Community Services yesterday. The Lead team helped prepare and serve Thanksgiving meal to around 250 deserving people from the community. Our team and efforts were much appreciated by the President and Volunteer Services Coordinator at Interfaith. |
National Youth Conference - July 27, 2024 On July 27th, Sewa International held its annual National Youth Convention, a 4 virtual event organized by youth. The convention featured presentations, panel discussions, and entertainment, with a focus on issues relevant to young people. A key highlight was the passing of a resolution titled "A Greener and Sustainable Planet for Our Future," tied to the upcoming 9/11 Sewa Day of Service. The event provided a platform for LEAD participants to connect, showcase their work, and discuss important topics like climate change. 9 LEAD Kids from San Diego chapter participated in the convention. |
Design to Lead Our Design To Lead team of high schoolers chose to address "Inadequate access to quality education in underserved populations." We identified that chronic absenteeism was a problem in the SanYsidro school district and we are working to develop ways to decrease chronic absenteeism. We are working closely with Mr. Russell Little, the superintendent of the San Ysidro School District to set up tutoring services in math and science for the middle school students to address their lack of consistency in education. |
