    LEAD 2023 - 2024

    Youth Engagement Program for High School Students

    The LEAD program is designed to inspire and equip high school students with essential leadership skills while nurturing a strong sense of social responsibility. Our goal is to cultivate socially conscious leaders who not only excel academically but also actively contribute to creating a better world for all.

    By participating in the LEAD program, you'll engage in hands-on volunteering, dynamic expert-led workshops, and thought-provoking speaker sessions.

    Key program details include:

    1. Program duration is from October 1st, 2023, to September 30th, 2024.
    2. Each registered student will receive a Sewa shirt for event participation, so please select your correct size during registration.
    3. A mandatory 2-hour in-person meeting will occur on a designated Sunday each month. Details regarding the  meetings and its timings will be communicated before the LEAD program begins, and these in-person meetings will be held at SCC. These meetings offer students the opportunity to meet our adult leaders, connect with fellow LEAD students, engage in project discussions, share ideas, and build an effective leadership network.
    4. Quarterly in-person Speaker Series (a chance to interact with accomplished personalities) attendance is mandatory for all LEAD students.
    5. Registration to LEAD offers the opportunity to apply to our exclusive Design to Lead (DTL) program, by invitation only for selected students.

    These experiences will ignite your leadership passion, enhance collaborative skills, and guide you in making meaningful community contributions. As you embark on this transformative journey, your registration reflects dedication to personal growth, cooperation, and positive impact. Join us in shaping a generation of impactful leaders.

    Sewa Phoenix LEAD 2024

    (LEAD - Leadership, Education And Development) 

    Youth Engagement Program for High School Students


    General Eligibility: Incoming and Current High Schoolers (Grade 8-12). All participants should always exhibit commitment to the values of Sewa and act with integrity and discipline.

    Program Dates : January 1st 2024 to October 31st, 2024

    Selection Criteria: Limited seats; enrolled on a first-come first-serve basis. Open to all nationalities, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

    Registration Fee: $100 per student

    Registration Deadline: December 31st, 2023

    Commitment : Each participant is expected to commit to at least 35 hours of volunteering.

    As a part of the LEAD program, young adults are provided with opportunities to participate and / or lead various activities and to earn volunteering hours. Sewa International will provide certificates as well as a recommendation for Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for qualified participants.

    Here is sample list of activities:

    1. Park Cleanup

    2. Tutoring

    3. Environment and Sustainability

    4. Create your own DIY initiative to address community needs.

    5. Sewa Diwali Food Drive

    6. Fundraising to support Sewa Projects

    7. Community service activities

        Join us on Sunday, Sept 08, 2024 at the beautiful Occoquan Regional Park to participate in the Sewa DC Annual 5K Run/Walk, which is conducted to honor the fallen heroes of 9/11 and to celebrate Unity and Resiliency. This year Sewa joined hands with AmeriCorps and organized multiple environment-related 9/11 Day of Service activities.

        Check-in starts at 8:00 AM. Please plan to arrive at the location early on to collect your T-shirt and the Bib.

        Run starts promptly at 9:00 AM and you are required to assemble at the start line before the race begins.

        If you wish to attend the culmination event of the "9/11 National Day of Service" and be a part of experience and support the cause without participating in the run, please feel free to register as Event Attendee (Non-Runner).

This event commemorates 9/11 by bringing together golfers and volunteers in the spirit of selfless service, raising funds and awareness for our charitable initiatives in Houston. Join us for a fun filled day of bonding and camaraderie that displays Sewa's mantra - "Together we serve better"

        The tournament will be a 4 player scramble format. Registration includes Breakfast, Beverages, Lunch & Golf Carts. If you register as an individual we will form a team with other individual players.
