Overview
New Jersey Sewa Chapter launched in December 2016 is dedicated to serve humanity on the principles of Nar Sewa Narayan Sewa (serving humanity is serving God). Our strong group of organizers and volunteers are mostly students and working parents.

We have undertaken wide range of projects including serving local communities as well as development projects abroad. Our on-going projects include supporting local Soup Kitchens, Adopt Highways, Clean Parks, Sponsor a Child, Family services, Disaster Relief, Promote Volunteerism, Youth for Sewa Get Inspired and Lead program.

We welcome everybody in North Jersey to come and join us. With your help we can take the mission forward - help more communities in need, support more initiatives...

LEAD North Jersey

LEAD North Jersey is Sewa International's internship program for High School students.


Family Services

Family services are designed to provide families tools for leading more meaningful fulfilling lives.


Garden of Joy - Socha, Columbia

Garden of Joy is a Saturday/Sunday school for children from poor environment. It supports more than 40 children in character and value development. the establishment has brought huge positive change in the neighborhood.

Adopt-A-Highway

Sewa North Jersey has adopted Parks in North Jersey and the Route 46 in Parsippany.

We schedule highway and parks clean up once a quarter and are always looking for volunteers to help.


Support the Soup Kitchen

The North Jersey chapter supports the Morristown Soup Kitchen We collects non-perishable food items and schedules delivery every month. Morristown Soup Kitchen serves nutritious meals in safe, warm and caring environment, free of charge. 

We also participate in awareness events including Annual Hunger walk.

    North Jersey LEAD 2025

    A great opportunity to experience the joy of giving by getting involved in community service, meet socially aware community leaders, develop leadership, teamwork and organizational skills, and have fun along the way besides achieving Sewa recognition certificate and United States PVSA - Presidential Volunteer Service Award* (conditions apply).

    Project location: North Jersey

    Duration: Jan 2025 - Nov 2025, minimum 100 hours of community service required to complete.

    General Eligibility
    1.
    High school students (in or in-coming). Students must be currently in 8th grade and above.  8th-12th grader only

    2. Students need to be sincerely committed to the values of Sewa with integrity and discipline.

    3. Parent involvement is required where needed and must commit at least 15 hours on any of the LEAD activity.

    4. Parents are required to sign a waiver and picture release form for the student to participate in the NJ LEAD 2025 Program (“Activity”) conducted by Sewa International, Inc. 

    Selection criteria: Limited seats, on first come first served basis. Equal opportunity employer. Open to all racial, ethnic, religious, and gender backgrounds.

    Program fee: $125/candidate to cover costs of running the program.

    *must be a US citizen or Permanent resident to be eligible for PVSA. All students completing 100 hours will receive Sewa Certificates irrespective of citizenship status.
