International Yoga Day

Scope

On December 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, after it was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Different chapters of Sewa International celebrated this landmark occasion by performing Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) and demonstration of Breathing and Yoga Techniques, among many other activities.

It's proven that Yoga has physical benefits such as increased flexibility, improved cardio and circulatory health, improved respiration, among many others. Aside from physical benefits, Yoga also helps manage stress by the power of meditation and breathing.

The International Day of Yoga aims to

  • promote Health and Wellness
  • create awareness about the true meaning of Yoga which strengthens body, mind as well as spirit.
  • establish peace and harmony in communities, by promoting non-violence.
