What This is an initiative to bring together California leaders such as Elected Officials, Civil Society Representatives, Community Leaders and other non-profit organizations to discuss and formulate actionable strategies to address critical issues of homelessness, food security, health security, right to education, and disaster relief. The proposed summit aims to generate a sense of shared responsibility among stakeholders and collaborate on effective solutions that prioritize the well-being of individuals and communities. |
Objectives: The primary objectives of the 2024 Bill of Responsibilities Summit (BoRS) are as follows: 1. To bring together leaders, and stakeholders from across the Bay area (but not limited to) to discuss and formulate actionable strategies to address critical issues of homelessness, food security, health security, right to education, and disaster relief. 2. To generate a sense of shared responsibility among stakeholders and promote collaboration on effective solutions that prioritize the well-being of individuals and communities. 3. To identify gaps in existing policies and programs which then can be used to develop new policies and initiatives that prioritize the most vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and marginalized communities. 4. To develop partnerships and collaborations between public and private sectors to mobilize resources and create a sustainable and inclusive framework for addressing these critical issues. 5. To create a platform for sharing best practices, innovative solutions, and successful case studies to inspire and motivate action on a larger scale effectively | Themes: The 2024 Bill of Responsibilities Summit (BoRS) will focus on the following themes: 1. Homelessness: Addressing the root causes of homelessness, including poverty, unemployment, and lack of access to affordable housing, and developing holistic strategies that provide housing, and support services to vulnerable populations. 2. Food Insecurity: Food insecurity has risen post pandemic. Key areas of consideration include access to nutritious food, impact on vulnerable populations, community-based initiatives, and school meal programs. 3. Health Inequity: It is important to strengthen healthcare systems and infrastructure to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for all, including strategies to address the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic, and promoting mental health and well-being. 4. Right to Education: Promoting universal access to quality education for all, including initiatives to improve access to education for marginalized communities. 5. Disaster Relief: Developing effective disaster preparedness and response strategies and providing humanitarian assistance to affected communities. |

What is BoRS? Bill Of Responsibilities Summit (BoRS) - The Nexus Gathering: 5 Pillars, 5 Realms,
1 Community - Together we Serve Better. At the end of the summit all of the attendees will be encouraged to take a symbolic pledge on how they plan to contribute towards the betterment for these problem areas and what change they would like to see in 2024.
Why should I attend? During the summit, we anticipate your valuable participation. Whether it be
engaging in panel discussions, contributing to sessions, representing your esteemed organization, capturing media content, or fostering connections through networking, your involvement is certain to leave a significant impact. What is the expected outcome of the summit? To drive more awareness and each one of us taking some pledge towards our
responsibility towards the community. This initiative is designed to unite
influential leaders across California, including Elected Officials, Civil Society
Representatives, Community Leaders, and fellow nonprofit organizations. Our
goal is to engage in meaningful dialogues, forge actionable strategies, and develop
mutually beneficial partnerships to confront and address the pressing issues
facing California. What can I expect? This is a pivotal event that reflects our collective aspirations and responsibilities within our society. Outside of above easy of participation you can expect exposure
to the areas/pillars that we will be focusing all our sessions and projects around
5 Pillars - Food, Shelter, Education, Health, and Disaster Relief. Who will be other attendees? 5 Realms are invited in the summit - Elected Officials, Non-Profit Organization, Corporate, Media, Academia and there will be Sewa volunteers and few supporters/philanthropists. What benefit will me or my organization have by attending the event? This is a one of a kind and a unique opportunity to network with other key stake holders in the community all working towards the common goal of mitigating the
challenges seen in the five areas of Food, Shelter, Education, Health, and Disaster
Relief. You will have direct access to the decision makers as well as other
organizations who are boots on grounds from the different realms in the
community all with common goal. | What role will me or my organization play? During the summit, we anticipate your valuable participation. Whether it be

Will I be charged? No, this is a free event. Will there be funds raised? Not directly at the event. Will me or my organization claim any proceeds from the pledge? There will be no funds raised directly at the event. What is Sewa International’s role in this? Sewa International, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is steadfast in its
commitment to nurturing this social fabric through sewa or “selfless service”. Sewa serves all regardless of race, color, religion, gender, or nationality. Our guiding principle is Responsible (Dharmic) Action, which involves a balanced exchange with society - giving generously to meet the needs of others and responsibly consuming resources to maintain harmony and peace. In this spirit, the Bay Area chapter of Sewa International is honored to host The Sewa Summit 2023 - Bill of Responsibility.
