Carole Juárez |
A citizen of the world born in Bolivia who has lived on five continents and visited 59 countries, the constant in Carole’s life was the concept of service. Her parents encouraged her to find kinship in each community where she lived, and to assume responsibility for making an impact where it was needed. With a background in political science, journalism, publishing, and community relations, Carole has always found opportunities to volunteer in refugee resettlement and in teaching ESL. Her life experiences and broad professional knowledge primed her for her work at Sewa. The words of Khalil Gibran resonate with her: "I slept and I dreamed that life is all joy. I woke and I saw that life is all service. I served and I saw that service is joy." She has served with Sewa through hurricanes, floods, winter storms and pandemics in various capacities, and currently directs the Sewa Houston AmeriCorps Program’s robust growth in the areas of Education, Community Empowerment, Disaster Resilience, and Mental Health Support. Carole does nothing if not with passion. |
