  • Project: Eel Monitoring Project

Eel Monitoring Project

Sewa LEADs volunteered at the Rahway River Watershed Association. The LEADs had a great time collaborating together to create eel mops, which are useful tools in helping monitor and restore eel populations in local rivers. Eel mops are also made from natural materials that attract young eels, giving them a safe place to grow. This project is key in supporting the recovery of eel populations, which are important for keeping the river ecosystem healthy. With eel numbers declining in many areas, it's important to help their population high. The LEADs worked hard, contributing to this important cause, while also gaining valuable hands-on experience in environmental conservation. It was an amazing opportunity to learn more about the challenges of species preservation, and the team had a great time working together for the good of the community and the environment.
