About Houston Chapter

Sewa International - Houston chapter is the most active Sewa chapters with a wide range of projects and activities covering all dimensions of Sewa – Disaster Relief and Rebuilding, Family Services, ASPIRE tutorials and Volunteering in the local community.

Houston Chapter has been active on the ground early, to help deal with the Coronavirus pandemic situation. We have established a Non-Medical helpline for people in Houston area, Distributing PPE’s (Mask, Sanitizers, Gloves, Thermometers etc.), conducting information & educative webinars for the benefit of community, running home-made masks project involving 60+ volunteers.

Providing hot meals to first responders and healthcare professional, conducted multiple food drives and distributed over 1 million pounds of food, set-up plasma matching registry, helped senior citizens and international students, partnered with more than 50 local community organization to join forces in responding to COVID-19 pandemic.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Sewa International volunteers with support from broader community worked to provide rescue and relief to the Harvey victims. We built/fixed more than 150 houses and greenhouses in Rosharon, a small community in greater Houston area which was devasted by this hurricane.
