As Sewa’s emergency relief efforts continue, our focus is now expanding toward long-term rehabilitation, rebuilding, and restoring self-reliance for affected communities.

Our Next Phase of Work

Sewa’s next phase of recovery work will focus on rebuilding essential community infrastructure and creating sustainable opportunities for children, families, and vulnerable populations:

• Old Age Homes – Construction and continued support for safe, dignified living facilities for senior citizens who lost their homes/families/livelihood.

· Building Safe Homes for Children - Sewa plans to support the construction and operation of safe, nurturing homes for children who have lost parental care and stability following the floods.  These homes will provide shelter, education, healthcare, nutrition, and emotional support, helping children rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.  Our goal is to create a secure foundation for a brighter, self-reliant future.

• Student Hostels (Chhatravas) – Development and operation of residential facilities to help students continue their education who lost their homes/families in the flood.

• Skill Development Centers’ – Identifying local workers and providing practical skills training to help them regain sustainable livelihoods.

• School Reconstruction – Supporting the construction and restoration of school facilities to help children return to safe learning environments.

• Shraddha Jagruk Kendra & Mental Health Support – Establishing community centers’ that promote emotional well-being, social support, and holistic recovery.

• Safe Drinking Water – Construction and installation of sustainable drinking-water facilities for communities in need.

• Student Support Kits – Providing affected students with school bags, books, stationery, clothing, and other essential learning materials.

Punarbas – Rebuilding Livelihoods

Rehabilitation is not only about rebuilding structures—it is about helping families rebuild their futures.

Through our Punarbas (Rehabilitation) initiatives, Sewa plans to:

•             Restore Livelihoods through Livestock – Provide farm animals to eligible surviving families, creating a sustainable source of income and food security.

•             Support Micro-Businesses – Identify local entrepreneurs and small businesses and help restart or strengthen their livelihoods by providing essential inventory, equipment, or tools—for example, supporting a local hair salon to resume operations.

Building Back Stronger

Sewa’s commitment goes beyond immediate relief. Our goal is to help communities stand again—with dignity, opportunity, essential services, and sustainable livelihoods.
