Sickle-Cell Anaemia Project |
Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder marked by defective hemoglobin. It inhibits the ability of hemoglobin in red blood cells to carry oxygen. Sickle cells tend to stick together, blocking small blood vessels causing painful and damaging complications. Sickle cell anaemia can cause joint pain, infections, and joint problems throughout the body. One of the latest surveys found that over 20 percent of the 33,120 tribal population is affected by the dreaded genetic disorder of sickle cell anaemia. In June 2013, another survey found 1,253 tribals affected by sickle cell anaemia and out of this, 96 are acute cases. The disease is proven to cause people to have low self-esteem and hopelessness, and all donations would be appreciated. Funds raised through this campaign will be donated to SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA DIAGNOSTIC AND COUNSELING CENTRE | Goal: $3,000.00
Collected: $1,009.00
