Speakers' Profile
Kailesh Karavadra is the EY Strategic Growth Markets Leader for the West Region, focused on our services, strategy and support for venture- and private equity-backed start-ups, IPOs, Family Operated Businesses, private and high growth market companies as well as overseeing the EY Entrepreneur of The Year Awards. He was previously the Managing Partner for EY’s San Jose office, overseeing 1,000 professionals serving a multitude of companies in Silicon Valley.
Kailesh started his EY career in the UK as a Chartered Accountant nearly 30 years ago, before moving to Silicon Valley during the 1990s dot-com era. Having lived in Africa, India and the UK and traveled extensively, Kailesh brings a global business perspective to serving our clients. He has performed work ranging from advising on business strategy to consulting on system security risks and business process controls.
Kailesh is currently the global coordinating partner for a number of technology and healthcare clients. In this role, he manages our services provided around the world ranging from auditing and accounting, HR, real estate, IT consulting, tax, transactions and financial services.
Kailesh holds a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering Degree and a Masters Degree in Electronic Engineering from Bangor University in the UK, specializing in artificial intelligence. In 2017 Kailesh was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from Bangor University for his services to Business and community. Kailesh is a Chartered Accountant in the UK.
Kailesh has served as a board chair and member of United Way Silicon Valley, Silicon Valley Directors Exchange (SVDX), Joint Venture Silicon Valley, serves on the National Kidney Foundation Board and served as the chair for the 2014 Silicon Valley Kidney Walk. Kailesh also supports the Food Rescue Mission in San Jose and the Silicon Valley Talent Partnership’s San José Small Business Ignite initiative, which helps small business owners grow. Vinita Sud Belani is the Founding Artistic Director of EnActe Arts. Belani founded EnActe Arts as a response to the under-representation of South Asian stories and talent in America. EnActe is a pan-American theatre company with a 3- fold mission: to bring South Asian stories into their rightful place as global narratives, to develop emerging multi- cultural talent in playwriting, performance and stagecraft and to revive and nurture ancient story-telling forms that are dying. EnActe serves as a production house and a talent incubator.
Ms Belani comes to ‘artrepreneurship’ after a successful 20-year largely entrepreneurial career in technology. Her last corporate position was as Vice President of Business Development at Sogeti, a Cap Gemini company. Prior to that Ms Belani worked at several multinationals and start-ups. She was the co-founder of Paguro, and the Founder and CEO of SocketWorks.
Ms Belani was a founding Board Member of SEED, a global science education non-profit connecting schoolchildren to scientists on projects across geographies. She currently serves on the Board of Maitri - a non-profit serving survivors of domestic abuse and violence. Ms Belani’s volunteer efforts include teaching at orphanages and vocational institutes, working with displaced women’s continuing education programs and developing support networks for expatriated spouses.
Ms Belani holds a BS/MS in Computer Science from BITS, Pilani, and an MBA (specialization - entrepreneurship) from HEC, France. She also holds a degree in French Language and Culture from the Sorbonne, Paris and a Zertifikat in German from the Max Mueller Institute.
Belani has lived and worked in Asia, Europe, Africa and America and speaks 7 languages including French, Spanish, German, Hindi and Bengali. She has been acting since the age of 5 and directing plays since the age of 19.
