Giving Tuesday Let’s celebrate Thanksgiving with gratitude by giving back to those who need it most. |
Our Impact so far in 2024 |
At Sewa International, every act of service stems from our commitment to uplift communities and bring hope to those in need. This Thanksgiving, join us in spreading warmth, joy, and care to countless families across the nation. |
Empowering Communities Nationwide Through the AmeriCorps 9/11 Day of Service, we organized 155 events, mobilized 5,274 volunteers, and fostered partnerships across 16 chapters. Activities like tree planting, park cleanups, and environmental justice campaigns continue to leave a lasting ecological and social impact. | Fighting Hunger and Food Insecurity Across the Western Region, initiatives like Burrito Sewa and Sandwich Sewa have served over 4,000 families, while chapters in Portland and Seattle provide regular meals to shelters. Efforts in Sacramento supported local community events, and Los Angeles chapters operated food pantries for families in need. |
Disaster Relief and Community Outreach In response to Hurricane Helene and Milton, our volunteers swiftly acted, delivering five truckloads of essential supplies to affected areas, distributing groceries, water, and medical aid, and clearing debris. Our partnership with FEMA and local temples ensured shelter and support for hundreds of displaced families. | Championing Education and Sustainability From donating over 80 laptops to Detroit Public School students to organizing 5K Walk/Run events for fundraising, our chapters across the Northeast are dedicated to empowering communities. Initiatives like the Candy Drive for Troops and the Sewa Diwali Food Drive collected thousands of pounds of food to combat hunger. |
