Sewa International Launches Relief Fund for Texas Flood Victims

Austin/San Antonio, TX – [July 09, 2025] In response to the devastating flash floods that have swept through the Texas Hill Country—claiming over 110 lives and leaving more than 160 people missing, including children—Sewa International has launched an emergency fundraising campaign. The funds will support displaced families with essential needs such as food, water, hygiene supplies, and medical aid, and will also contribute to ongoing recovery and long-term rebuilding efforts. Volunteers from the Austin and San Antonio, TX chapters are already delivering critical aid to families affected by this unprecedented tragedy.

Sewa leaders have extended their deep gratitude to the first responders, local authorities, and state and federal agencies for their tireless rescue efforts.

Austin and San Antonio volunteers assisted in flood-affected areas

“Our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one or facing the destruction of their home,” said Dr. Hetal Nayak, President of Sewa’s San Antonio chapter. “Lives have been lost in five counties, and people have lost homes and property across nearly 15 counties. The scale of the damage is immense, and it will take weeks, even months, for these communities to recover.”

Sewa has a long-standing history of disaster response in Texas, having supported relief efforts during every major crisis in the state over the past 20 years. Drawing on this experience, Sewa local chapters are working closely with affected families to provide immediate assistance and begin long-term recovery efforts.

Volunteers supported local authorities with logistics, cleanup efforts, and damage assessment to help develop a recovery plan

“The journey to rebuild lives and communities will be long and difficult,” said Swadesh Katoch, Vice President of Disaster Recovery at Sewa International. “We are working in partnership with local authorities, government agencies, and nonprofits to maximize our impact and reach. We urge everyone to support this cause—every donation, no matter the size, can help someone begin to rebuild their life,” he said.

Sewa International is widely recognized for its commitment to humanitarian service and effective disaster response—both in the U.S. and around the world. With deep community roots, our Texas chapters remain steadfast in their commitment to supporting their neighbors during this crisis.
