As you may know, India is going through one of the biggest Covid-19 crises ever and need our help now more than ever, due to the new variant of Covid-19 called B.1.617 that may be causing a massive spike in new cases. Many people in places like the United States have relatives or family in India that are in the middle of this crisis and that need our help.
The goal of this fundraiser for Covid-19 Relief in India is to raise money and awareness for the crisis that is happening in India as we speak. Millions of people are getting affected by this situation due to shortages of vaccines and hospital beds, and lack of hospital materials including oxygen cylinders. Furthermore, India’s healthcare system is diminishing and collapsing while vaccine rollout and development have slowed down tremendously. There have been more than 20 million reported Covid cases and over 230,00 deaths, which doesn’t even include the unreported cases and deaths that are hidden from us. While we physically cannot be there in India to help, we aim to raise as much money as we can to benefit SEWA International's project. To help this situation, we are collecting donations that all of the proceedings will go to SEWA’s mission of helping hospitals, which you can read more about below.
SEWA’s mission is to acquire funds for buying supplies and ensuring that the much-needed lifesaving medical equipment like oxygen concentrators and ventilators are acquired and shipped to hospitals across India that require support.
HTC (Helping The Community) Initiative is a student-led nonprofit organization founded by Arush Vyas and Shreyes Kanumuru as a way to help make the post-pandemic transition easier and more efficient.
