The second wave of the COVID- 19 pandemic is rapidly spreading in Nepal. As of May 09 Nepal had recorded the highest 47.32% test positive rate. Active cases of the virus have been found in all 77 districts of the country. This may lead to a devastating situation within a few days. According to the government’s Covid-19 response plan, the country only has 1,595 intensive care beds and 480 ventilators for around 30 million people. There is a shortage of doctors, with just 0.7 physicians per 100,000 people, according to the World Bank. The shortage of hospital beds, oxygen, as well as medical equipment has already overwhelmed caregivers. Further, as the vaccination drive has already stopped, the second wave does not bode well for people.
Sewa International has started a fundraising campaign to support Nepal to ensure the supply of lifesaving medical equipment like oxygen-concentrators, medicines, and ventilators.
Your generous support in the past at the time of the Nepal earthquake helped Sewa International carry out major activities.
