India is currently going through one of the largest COVID-19 outbreaks worldwide and needs our help more than ever. In addition, the new COVID-19 variant is rapidly spreading and causing massive devastation with a new influx of cases throughout India in areas such as Nepal. Furthermore, the vast shortage of hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, and other important medical equipment has already overwhelmed healthcare workers and slowed down the government’s vaccine rollout and implementation.
The goal of these fundraisers is to raise money for essential health supplies and spread awareness about the dire situation that is happening in India as we speak. There have been more than 25 million reported COVID-19 cases and over 250,000 deaths, which doesn’t even include the unreported cases and deaths that we will never know about. Additionally, as the harsh second wave of COVID-19 ravages India, there is an extreme shortage of key resources as hospitals are increasingly overcrowded with new patients.
The People for People (PFP) Initiative for Seva is a student-led nonprofit organization founded by PranavKrishna Kandikayala as a group effort to help make the post-pandemic transition easier and less stressful for families. While we physically cannot be there in India to help, we aim to raise as much money as we can to benefit SEWA International's project. SEWA’s mission is to ensure that vital medical equipment like oxygen concentrators and ventilators are equitably distributed to hospitals across India. Another student Sanved Paladhi is also joined PFP to lead this great effort and help raise funds to save lives!
To help alleviate the current crisis, we are collecting donations in which all of the proceedings will go to SEWA’s mission of helping hospitals. Even if you cannot donate, simply spreading this information along to people you know that would be interested in helping out would be of tremendous value. Thank you for taking the time to read through this - every amount of help goes a long way and is deeply appreciated.
