About Govinda Goshala Cow Haven: https://www.govindagoshala.org Govinda Goshala Cow Haven is a lifetime home for cows in Western New York State, two hours south of Niagara Falls State Park. They currently have nine cows with one more on the way soon. The Goshala is run by husband/wife Steve and Linda, who are in their upper 60s and have been supporting these cows for over 40 years now; They need our support. At this Goshala:
The goal is to show a compassionate model of cow care, in line with Vedic teachings. Contrary to modern thought, cows are good for the environment! It is the exploitation of cows which is bad for the environment. Currently there are 9 cows. Shanti, the matriarch, is 16. (That’s 85 in human years). Her daughter Krishi, and granddaughter Sharanagati are 11. These are pretty old cows! Most cows in the USA don’t live past 3 to 5 years old. Our young veterinarians say they have never seen cows this old! Last year 2 cows were rescued along with a calf Dharma, who is now one year old. In any other form,a boy calf would not stand a chance, but here, at the Goshala Haven, Dharma is basking in the watchful, loving eyes of his mom, Maggie, and his Auntie Raji. Can you help us to care for these special souls? We can’t do this work without you! In the video of the newest rescues, you see baby Arjuna, his mom, Nirmala and Auntie Mangala, who is expecting any day. Arjun was tied and chained for the first three months of his life. Now he is running free and nursing from his mother About the Project: We are raising funds for winter hay, (4K) and to upgrade our water system, (6K) Steve and Linda Voith have been caring for Cows in a Goshala setting for over 40 years. Up until now they have been able to do the work all by themselves. This August 2024, Steve steps into his 70th year, and they are starting to need help with the barn chores. Hiring a staff person would require $40,000, however, for a fraction of this cost, they can upgrade a guest facility so volunteers can stay and help care for the cows. For years they have been struggling with an outdated water system that is always breaking, leaving the cows without water. Last year they were able to dig a well. It will cost $6000 to bring filtered well water to the barn and guest house. This will provide reliable water for the cows. | Goal: $10,000.00
Collected: $2,983.00
