Preserve Culture, Shape Futures
The world today faces complex challenges—climate change, poverty, unemployment, and the erosion of cultural identity. To address these, preparing future generations to thrive while staying connected to their roots is essential. Donyi Polo Cultural & Charitable Trust (DPCCT), founded by indigenous communities of Arunachal Pradesh, is committed to preserving the cultural heritage of Tani tribes, viz. Nyishi, Tagin, Galo, Adi, and Apatani. These communities face increasing threats from modernization, cultural homogenization, and coerced conversions, endangering their sustainable ways of life. To safeguard their identity, DPCCT has established Gurukul-style Indigenous Schools in remote regions, offering a blend of formal education (based on NCERT guidelines) and traditional teachings. These schools integrate Indigenous traditions, arts, crafts, sports, and rituals, ensuring students carry forward their rich heritage. Activities like traditional games, yoga, and hygiene practices foster holistic development, empowering students to honor their roots while adapting to modern challenges. Starting in 2020, DPCCT’s four Gurukuls—serving Nyishi, Galo, and Adi communities—have a strength of 350 students from Classes I to V, with an annual intake of 25 students per school. However, sustaining these institutions entirely depends on donations. We invite you to support this mission in shaping the future of these young learners and the world, while preserving centuries-old traditions. Together, we can ensure their cultural legacy endures for generations to come. Specifically our ongoing and upcoming needs are the following,
