KARL MEHTA
 

Karl Mehta is a serial entrepreneur, author, investor, engineer, and civil servant with over 20 years of experience in founding, building, and funding technology companies in the U.S. and international markets. He is currently Founder & CEO of EdCast Inc., a next-generation knowledge platform company and former venture partner at Menlo Ventures, a leading VC firm of Silicon Valley with over $4B under management.

Previously, he was the Founder & CEO of PlaySpan Inc., acquired by Visa Inc. (NYSE:V), the world’s largest payment network. Karl also served as a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, selected by the Obama Administration during the inaugural 2012-13 term. He was recently appointed by Governor Brown to the Workforce Investment Board of the State of California. In 2010, Karl won the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from Ernst & Young for Northern California. Karl is on the boards of Simpa Networks and on the advisory board of Intel Capital and Chapman University’s Center of Entrepreneurship.

Karl is founder of several non-profit’s including Code For India and Grassroots Innovation. He is author of ‘Financial Inclusion at the Bottom of the Pyramid‘.

Dr. CATHERINE MOHR
 

Dr. Catherine Mohr is President of the Intuitive Foundation, the corporate Foundation of Intuitive Surgical, a high technology Silicon Valley based company that makes the da Vinci surgical robot. In this role she invests in research and development programs aimed at understanding and improving education of medical practitioners around the world and applying novel technologies aimed at reducing the global burden of disease.

Catherine has a diverse background which covers surgery, medical technology, engineering, product design, healthcare, alternative energy, automotive, aerospace, global entrepreneurship, IP litigation, FDA compliance, education, and product development. From this she brings extensive industry experience and deep insights into emerging opportunities, trends, issues and challenges. Proven history of visionary thought-leadership as an advisor on future technologies to a wide range of companies and government agencies, and a sought after speaker/lecturer.

Dr. Mohr received her BS and MS in mechanical engineering from MIT, and her MD from Stanford University School of Medicine. She has been involved with numerous startup companies in the areas of alternative energy transportation, and worked for many years developing high altitude aircraft and high efficiency fuel cell power systems, computer aided design software, and medical devices.

Dr Mohr is on the board of directors for FINCA International, and has served as a scientific advisor for several startup companies in Silicon Valley, the NCI SBIR program, and government technology development programs in her native New Zealand, and entrepreneurship programs worldwide. She is the author of numerous scientific publications, the recipient of multiple design awards, and speaks regularly internationally on the subject of the future of surgery, technology and robotics.

Dr Mohr is currently working with Sewa on a long term sustainability care in India Post-COVID.

Sewa is making a difference in the local community. Please come and witness Sewa’s contribution to the bay area community through these local Bay Area projects:

Bay Area Aspire : The Bay Area chapter of Sewa International started the ASPIRE After-School program in order to reduce gaps in education for students in the underprivileged community in East Palo Alto with the mission of empowering students intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Sewa volunteers help 58 students with their homework, math, reading, STEM and engage them with creative activities.

Family ServicesBay area case management team provides assistance and volunteer support to distressed individuals/families during unforeseen circumstances and offer several educational  Seminars  on various topics of health and safety in the local community at Sewa Kendra to help prepare better. Stop Diabetes Movement: is the free Yoga workshops throughout Bay Area to prevent and control Diabetes. 

Youth Empowerment Program:  Lead is Sewa International's Youth enrichment Program for High School students.  It introduces socially conscious leadership to young adults and provides a platform for them to serve the community and experience the joy of giving. 

Disaster Recover: 
Sewa continues to be at the forefront of helping local disaster victims  Bay area Volunteers helped in the immediate relief and continue to support re-habilitate Campfire evacuees by building Tiny homes on wheels to the campfire evacuees.
