Through this initiative, we are leading various community service projects nationwide, including the construction of the 9/11 Memorial at Chesterfield. The genesis of this memorial emerged from collaborative discussions with Chesterfield public works, aimed at fostering inclusive community engagement. Scheduled for unveiling on September 11th, 2024 the National Day of Service and Remembrance, the memorial stands as a heartfelt tribute to those who made immense sacrifices. The unanimous approval of the memorial proposal by the Chesterfield Township Committee, along with their allocation of land and the finalization of the design, underscores the significance of this endeavor. We are steadfast in our commitment to commence construction in July, ensuring that this memorial becomes a symbol of unity and remembrance for generations to come. generations to come. How is this Memorial funded? The 9/11 Memorial at Charlotte Rogers Park is a community project led by Sewa
in collaboration with local residents, businesses, and patriotic donors like you. The funds are generated through fundraiser events, sponsorships, and general donations. No tax dollars will be used. How can people be involved in this project? Sewa encourages everyone to get involved in the project through: - Volunteering - Donations and sponsorships - Fundraisers - Helping to spread the word and involving more people in the community Why does Chesterfield need a 9/11 monument? This memorial site at Chesterfield will serve as a space of shared memory that binds us together. The 9/11 memorial will not only celebrate the remarkable resilience of the American people but also provide the community with a place for reflection and healing. It will connect our past and present, uniting us in collective action. Who will maintain the memorial after construction? The memorial will require minimal maintenance.The Chesterfield township public works will maintain the memorial. When will the memorial be open? The memorial unveiling is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th 2024 ,the National Day of Service. Will the memorial be open to the public? Yes, the memorial will be accessible year round to the public. Will there be a fee to visit the memorial? Visiting and paying your respects at the memorial will be free of charge. How do I sponsor a brick/granite plaque for the 9/11 Memorial? The sponsored engraved bricks will be installed along the left & right side of the
patchway to the memorial. Whether you purchase a brick for yourself, as a gift, or as a memorial to a loved one, this is a unique way to make a contribution to the community and be recognized at the same time by leaving a permanent legacy or mark in the community. The sponsorship amount for the engraved brick is $250, and for the granite plaque, it is $700. Each line has no more than 21 characters including spaces and periods in it. The Committee reserves the right of final approval of the wording. Granite Plaque Engraving The plaques for the memorial are 24 x 12 inches in size and can include both text and logos. There is no limit on the text; the font size will adjust to fit the content.
